October 29

Hermit Day

Hermit Day is today. It's a quiet day to spend quietly in seclusion, all by yourself. For some people, being a recluse is a way of life. They spend everyday by themselves, in peaceful seclusion. For whatever reason, Hermits prefer living away from the crowds and the sea of humanity. For many of us who lead an increasingly busy lifestyle, the idea of being a "Hermit for a Day" is very tempting. The thought of getting away from it all, even if for just one day, is very appealing.

Birthdays

AlvaBlanchard Adams (1875 – 1941, Del Norte, Colorado), a Coloradan and Democratic Party politician who represented Colorado in the United States Senate from 1923 until 1941. During World War I, Adams served as a major in the Judge Advocate General's department in 1918 and 1919. In 1923 he was appointed to fill the vacancy in the United States Senate caused by the death of Samuel D. Nicholson. He served until a special election in November of 1924 (in which he did not run). He died in Washington, D.C. in 1941

Bernard Gordon (October 29, 1918 – May 11, 2007) was an American writer and producer. For much of his 27-year career, he toiled in obscurity, prevented from taking screen credit by the Hollywood Blacklist. Among his best-known works are screenplays for Flesh and Fury, Earth vs. the Flying Saucers and 55 Days at Peking

Donald Clarence"Don" Simpson (October 29, 1943 – January 19, 1996) was an American film producer, screenwriter, and actor. He produced such hits as Flashdance, Beverly Hills Cop, Top Gun and The Rock. In 1985 and again in 1988, he and his producing partner, Jerry Bruckheimer, were named Producers of the Year by the National Association of Theatre Owners

Winona Ryder (1971, Winona, Minnesota, USA) First earned a loyal following for giving unusual depth and inner life to teen characters in films like "Heathers" (1989) and "Edward Scissorhands" (1990). Her enormous, expressive brown eyes and a radiance that reminded early champion Tim Burton of the "timeless old movie stars" went on to become a favorite element in period dramas like "Bram Stoker's Dracula" (1992), "The Age of Innocence" (1994) and "The Crucible."

  1. October 29 is Hermit Day. There are some people who just prefer to stay inside. While many times they do come out and socialize, they prefer being inside. They are probably just inside because they are introverts and being around big crowds makes them tired. However, these people can be mistaken as hermits. Then, there are people who prefer to never come out of where they live. They would rather be hermits.
Hermit Day is a day that is meant to just celebrate the hermit lifestyle for one day. For hermits, they can relax on this day knowing that their lifestyle is accepted. For introverts, this holiday gives them the alone time that they need but may not always get. For extroverts, this holiday gives alone time that probably is needed even if they do not realize how much the alone time is needed.

  5. Hermit Day is a day to spend some time alone.
Hermits live alone secluded from society.
They do not care for the busy lives most of us lead, they prefer their quiet peaceful existence.
